Each chapter contains learning objectives and an introduction to the topic, followed by a case and questions. The chapter closes with commentary from the authors (e.g. ‘pearls’ associated with the topic) and patient-oriented considerations for the topic at hand.

"While a number of public health pharmacy educational texts are available, currently, there is a paucity of resources that focus on application of public health knowledge in a case-based format for pharmacists. Casebooks in health sciences allow opportunity for students to work toward educational competencies through patient-oriented scenarios prior to or in concert with formal clinical experiences."

Healthy People provides 10-year, measurable public health objectives — and tools to help track progress toward achieving them. Healthy People identifies public health priorities to help individuals, organizations, and communities across the United States improve health and well-being. Healthy People 2030, the initiative’s fifth iteration, builds on knowledge gained over the first 4 decades.

"More than 80 percent of U.S. residents live in urban areas. But until recently, few measures have been available to assess health, the factors that shape health, and the drivers of health equity at the city level. That's where the City Health Dashboard comes in. Our goal is to provide communities and city leaders with an array of regularly updated data specific to neighborhood and/or city boundaries – such as life expectancy, obesity, and children in poverty -- to improve the health and well-being of everyone in the community."

CHR&R allows nationwide comparison of counties with similar populations based on key demographic, social, and economic indicators.

The Division of Community Health (DCH) is one of nine divisions within the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC’s) National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (NCCDPHP). We are committed to strengthening community-level health efforts throughout the nation and to helping communities prevent disease and promote healthy living. Our efforts place special emphasis on reaching people who experience the greatest burden of death, disability, and suffering from chronic diseases.

Free resource to help you choose programs and policies to improve health and prevent disease in your community. Systematic reviews are used to answer these questions: Which program and policy interventions have been proven effective? Are there effective interventions that are right for my community? What might effective interventions cost; what is the likely return on investment?

Find variations in how medical resources are distributed and used in the United States. The project uses Medicare data to provide information and analysis about national, regional, and local markets, as well as hospitals and their affiliated physicians. Search by region, hospital, or topic.

What works? Search the National Association of County & City Health Officials database to find model programs.

The Underserved Health Communities Project is an interactive map showing data and stories related to twenty medically underserved counties within the Greater Midwest Region. Using ArcGIS mapping software, the Underserved Health Communities project includes an interactive map that highlights these twenty counties with the highest risk for health factors and behaviors according to the 2016 County Health Rankings and Roadmaps.

PLACES, a collaboration between CDC, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and the CDC Foundation, allows local health departments and jurisdictions regardless of population size and urban-rural status to better understand the burden and geographic distribution of health-related outcomes in their areas and assist them in planning public health interventions.
