Circulation Policies: Home

Who Can Borrow What and For How Long

Welcome!

The goal of our circulation policies is to serve all DMU students, faculty, and staff members as effectively as possible, making desired materials available to all those who need them, with the understanding that Library resources must be shared equitably.

Any time you have questions or concerns about Library materials or circulation policies, please contact the circulation staff. Serving you is our mission. We welcome your suggestions and your comments.

To contact us, you may call the circulation desk at 515-271-1537. Our circulation desk is staffed by our amazing student library assistants.

Please use this LibGuide to find information on renewals, fines and fine payments, placing bookings and holds, and other Library circulation policies and procedures. You can also complete simple catalog searches from this LibGuide, using the link to the catalog found in the Search Library Catalog box on this page. Library Policies

Study rooms in the Library are governed by the Des Moines University study room policy, which can be located on the Pulse page under the Services button. Look for Study Room Reservation Guidelines.

In order for students to book a room, the official DMU policy is to use the Resource Scheduler, located on the Pulse. Please use this program to find the room you would like to reserve, then send an email to schedcoor@dmu.edu to request your reservation.  Rooms reservations on campus are governed by University policies, as managed by our facilities department.

Most study rooms in the library are available on a first come/first serve basis. We have two rooms where a seat can be reserved: SEC 218  & 223.

The Library is a quiet study space. Study rooms are available for students who need to converse. All other library spaces are for silent, individual study. Cell phone conversations are not allowed in any area of the Library, including study rooms. Children are also not allowed in any area of the Library.

Food is allowed in the Library at the discretion of the Library staff. Greasy, crumbly, or otherwise messy food should be consumed elsewhere. Patrons should leave no trace of food or wrappers behind. It is the prerogative of Library staff to determine whether questionable food items are appropriate for consumption in the Library.
