Need materials that the Library does not license or own? Are you on rotation? Try ILLiad

What is Interlibrary Loan?

Do you need articles, books, book chapters, or other research materials not owned by the Des Moines University library?

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a service for faculty, students, and staff of Des Moines University. Just let us know what you need, and we'll do our best to obtain a PDF or hard copy of the material on your behalf at no cost to you.

To get started, fill out a one-time registration form to set up an ILLiad account. Need help? See Step 1: Create Personal Account.

After you create an account, you rarely need to fill out forms or copy and paste anymore. ILLiad does the work for you. See Step 2: Make a Request to learn more.

See Step 3: Get Your Material to learn how to retrieve your requests.

Members of the public are not eligible for ILL services. We encourage them to use their local public libraries for all ILL needs.

How Long Do I Have to Wait?

Generally we can get article pdf's within 5 business days. Often we can get journal pdf's sooner, maybe even as fast as a day or two.

Books or other print documents will take longer to receive as we have to wait for another Library to mail out the item.  This makes it hard to predict a time line, but you should expect on average 5-10 business days.
