Non-Electronic Materials Access
Effective Friday March 20 at 7:00 pm the library will provide limited access to non-electronic materials until further notice. All books may be checked out with the exception of reserve items. Nearly all of these items may be accessed electronically; in the rare instance when an item is unavailable electronically, users should fill out a request for chapter needed via Illiad. Non-reserve items may be requested via placing a hold in the library’s online catalog. All holds will be pulled and checked out to the requestor at 10:00 am on Mondays and Thursdays. These items will be placed on the circulation desk for pickup at the requestor’s convenience. Returned items may be placed in the bookdrop.
The library reserves the right to recall items if they are needed by other users. The library’s anatomical models will not be available during this time.
University Archives and Special Collections Access
Archives and Special Collections will be unavailable for in-person research visits until further notice. Requests for archives and special collections research assistance can be made via the library’s remote research assistance systems. Please see Research Assistance section for further information.
Checkout Dates and Fines
All physical items checked out as of March 17 will have their due dates extended to June 1. Checkout periods after that time will remain as usual.
Effective Friday March 20 at 7:00 pm the library will move to remote-only research assistance until further notice. Assistance will be available M-F 8:00 am-4:30 pm via email@example.com, chat, and the AskUs! links on the library website, LibGuides, and D2L.
Interlibrary loan services will continue as normal until further notice, though lending and borrowing of print ILL materials may become more limited depending on whether other medical libraries continue to make their print collections available.
Circulation Desk Services
The library’s circulation desk will be closed until further notice. Please see Non-Electronic Materials Access to learn more about how to check out books housed at the circulation desk.
Using the Library Space
We very strongly encourage appropriate social distancing practices when in the library space. We ask that all users please spread out in the library and be mindful of University and CDC guidelines and policies regarding coming onto campus when ill, practicing good hand hygiene, etc. Library users are welcome to use the hand sanitizer/wipes stations in the library—please see signage at the circulation desk for location information.
Status: no known issues at this time.
As of June 8, 2020, the circulation desk is being staffed weekdays 7:30a - 12:00a and weekends 9:00a - 12:00a (July 4 12p - 12a), although staffing may be intermittent at times. When staff is present, all materials located behind the circulation desk will be available as usual.

Non-print materials that are located behind the circulation desk, such as whiteboards, headphones, and anatomical models, are not available when staff is not present.
